WHAT IS MONOFERRIC?
Monoferric (ferric derisomaltose) is a single-infusion IV iron treatment designed to improve iron levels in individuals with iron deficiency.
Unlike oral iron supplements that may take months to correct low iron levels, Monoferric delivers a high dose of iron directly into the bloodstream. This allows for faster replenishment of iron stores and improvement in symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, and reduced energy.
Most patients can receive their full iron replacement dose in a single infusion administered over 20 minutes or longer, depending on dosing and clinical assessment.
WHO MAY BENEFIT FROM IV IRON INFUSION?
IV iron infusion may be recommended for individuals experiencing iron deficiency who:
- Cannot tolerate oral iron supplements
- Have not responded adequately to oral iron therapy
- Experience chronic iron loss
- Require rapid restoration of iron stores
- Have certain medical conditions affecting iron absorption
Symptoms of iron deficiency may include:

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR INFUSION
Before Your Appointment
Patients must have a valid prescription for Monoferric and an infusion referral from their healthcare provider.The prescription should be sent to the patient’s pharmacy of choice. Patients are required to bring the sealed, original pharmacy-labelled vial to their appointment.Recent lab results confirming iron deficiency (within the last 3 months) must also be available.
During the Infusion
The infusion is administered by a trained healthcare professional in a clinical setting.The Monoferric infusion is typically delivered over 30–60 minutes, though total appointment time may vary depending on patient tolerance and clinical assessment.Vitality staff will verify:
- product name
- lot number
- expiration date
- pharmacy labeling
to ensure safe administration.
Post-Infusion Monitoring
After the infusion is complete, patients will remain in the clinic for approximately 30 minutes of observation to monitor for any delayed reactions.This monitoring period ensures patient safety and allows staff to respond quickly if any concerns arise.
Precautions & Medical Considerations
Patients should inform the clinic prior to their appointment if they have:
- A history of infusion reactions
- Current infection
- Pregnancy
- Recent blood transfusion
- Known allergies to iron infusions
Vitality reserves the right to decline administration if the medication packaging or verification cannot be confirmed.
Booking Requirements
Before booking an IV iron infusion appointment, please ensure the following requirements are met:
1. Physician Referral
A completed Monoferric infusion referral form must be faxed to the clinic.
2. Prescription for Monoferric
Patients must obtain a prescription and bring the sealed pharmacy-labelled vial to their appointment.
3. Recent Lab Results
Bloodwork confirming iron deficiency must be less than 3 months old.
If you do not currently have a prescription, you may book a Quick Consult with our Nurse Practitioner for assessment. If appropriate, a prescription may be provided.

Healthcare providers may refer patients to Vitality Restoration & Aesthetics for Monoferric IV iron infusion therapy.

COST
An infusion administration fee of $200 applies.
Patients are responsible for payment at the time of their appointment and will receive a receipt that may be submitted to health spending accounts or used for income tax purposes if applicable.
